"Mama," says Chago on the way home from school yesterday.
"Yes, son?"
"I love you across the moon." [hear...heart...melting]
"Bubba, I love you across the stars."
"Well, I love you across the sun," he trumps.
"And I love you across the clouds," I say.
"But I love you across all the oceans," he says.
"Well, then I love you across all the deserts," I add.
"And I love you across all the forests and the jungles," he says.
"Mama?" calls Saia in between bites of string cheese.
"Yes, sweetheart?"
"Mama, I love you across the street."
[and there you go]

Wow. Um... how nice of her. I guess she just prefers to get to the point without all the theatrics. ;)
Uh-huh. Okay. But I know what this really means is that when she's about 11 I'm gonna start hearing a whole helluva lot of "I don't love you anymore, Mama"s. AGGHHHHHH!!!!
